Billet Information
The Team Colorado Tier I (AAA) Girls Hockey Club is owned and operated by CAHA, the official state affiliate of USA Hockey. There are very few Tier I caliber Girls teams west of the Mississippi, and Team Colorado is intent on providing the absolute best in player development for high-performing female hockey players. The program is in its eighth season and is expecting to roster elite female athletes on its 14U, 16U, and 19U Tier-I (AAA) teams from outside the Denver metro area, including out of town, state, or even out of country.
Since Team Colorado will practice in Denver four or five times per week, it is necessary that these out-of-area players reside in a home within commuting distance of the South Suburban Sports Complex and Family Sports. In most cases, players will have their own reliable transportation to and from the rink. Host families will not necessarily be expected to provide transportation in all cases.
Players participating in the Team Colorado program are pursuing opportunities to be NCAA DI or DIII student-athletes. For these athletes to be successful and for Team Colorado to be a viable training option, players need to be in a safe and supportive environment during the hockey season. For many of these girls, it will be the first time they have ever lived away from home and will need to feel as though they are living at home with their own parents, siblings, and family pets. Even though their families are only a phone call away, they will need home cooked meals and at times adult guidance and support.
The housing period can run from mid to late August until April, but can extend into May. Players residing with host families are expected to uphold household rules, attend school (online or traditional), participate in family activities, treat family members with respect, and generally be of good moral character. The athletes will also have strict team rules to abide by and if rules are broken players may lose their privilege of continuing with the program.
Host family compensation is $400/month to cover the increase in food and utilities, housing, and transportation (if provided). Players are expected to cover any additional personal costs out of their own pocket. We are currently looking to secure 8-10 host families for players on the 16U and 19U Tier I Team Colorado teams.
Please give this great opportunity some thought and feel free to pass this along to others you may know who would be interested in hosting a player for our Tier I teams.
